Police are watching the crosswalks

Motorists, remember to yield to people at crosswalks.

The Seattle Police Department’s Traffic Unit is paying extra attention to the crosswalks today. Officers will be contacting motorists at several intersections with marked crosswalks if they fail to yield to pedestrians in the crosswalks.

If you don't stop, it could cost you.The fine for failing to yield is $124.00 for motorists and $103.00 for cyclists. Right now police are in the 4100 Block of Stone Avenue North.

Later today they'll be on Dexter Avenue around Aloha.

I saw 2 people getting tickets on my way to work that morning. I would like to see them out watching for a week or so, let more people see and experience this.

The intersection of 45th and Stoneway has always been particularly bad for this as well.
